Goalie Coaches

The Goalie Coachswha-goalie

All head coaches are encouraged to dedicate one of the assistant coaches to be responsible for goalie development.  This person does not need a goaltending background, just an adult volunteer who is willing to work with one or two players in a specialized role.

Beginning in the 2012-13 season, SWHA’s goaltender development program has offered free professional goaltender lessons and support for goalie coaches.

The 2016 Goalie Development Program will run from October 17th thru December 19th.  SWHA Goaltenders will attend 5 weekly training sessions held at Richmond Arena with GDI Goaltending.  Questions about the Goalie Development Program can be directed to Steve Mason, SWHA’s Director of Player Development @ playerdevelopment.swha@gmail.com.

Goalies are often over looked on many minor hockey teams.  We hope your team will take advantage of these sessions to work with your goaltenders.
