​ High Performance Hockey (AA & AAA) & High School

Thinking of Trying Out for AA, AAA, or High School Hockey?

Players in the South Winnipeg or St. Norbert catchment area who intend to try out for High Performance programs (AA or AAA) or their High School hockey team should still register with SWHA first to ensure eligibility and avoid missing deadlines.

​ AA & AAA Hockey (High Performance)

As per Hockey Manitoba and Hockey Winnipeg policy:

• All players must register with their home association (SWHA) before attending AA or AAA tryouts.
• If a player makes a AA or AAA team, they may request a refund from SWHA (details below).

​  Recommended: Register online for “A Hockey” with SWHA even if you're pursuing AA or AAA tryouts.

​ High School Hockey

High School Hockey operates as a separate program from minor hockey in Winnipeg.

• Unless a player is 100% certain they will make their high school team, they should also register with SWHA and attend A tryouts.
• If a player is not registered with SWHA and does not make their high school team, they will not be eligible for AA or A1 placement with SWHA.

​ Refund Process for AA, AAA & High School Players

If your player successfully makes a AA, AAA, or High School team, you may request a partial refund for your SWHA registration.

✅ To Request a Refund:

• Email the SWHA Registrar:  registrar.swha@gmail.com
• Include player’s full name and confirmation of AA/AAA/HS team selection
• Refunds will be applied back to the credit card used for registration (subject to processing fee)

​ Ice Session Charges

Players who attend SWHA tryouts will be charged for:

• Preseason ice: $15 per session
• Tryouts: $20 per session

These fees are non-refundable and will be deducted from the total refund.

​ Payment Policy

• SWHA no longer accepts post-dated cheques for players trying out for AA, AAA, or HS teams.
• At registration, you can select the installment payment option (valid only for AA, AAA, or HS players):​​​​​​​
                                                         ~$100 charged at registration
                                                          Remaining balance charged in October unless canceled

​ Cancellation Deadlines

To avoid being charged the full registration amount:

If SWHA has not received written notice by the applicable deadline, the remaining registration balance will be charged to your credit card.

​ Important Notes

• All credit card refunds are subject to a processing fee:

                          ​ Minimum of 5% of the original payment or $20, whichever is greater

• Refunds are processed once the player’s spot on a High School, AA, or AAA roster is confirmed
